Annual Holiday Brunch
Submitted by Maria Rodriguez, Communications, and Acting Newsletter Editor

The Section’s last event of the year is the Annual Holiday Brunch. It is the time where the South Florida Section of Mercedes-Club of America thanks the members for being part of our Section, it is the time that we talk about the events of the past year, and mostly it is the time that we share our last meal for the year, as a group. This year we gathered once again at the 94th Aero Squadron in Miami, on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. The holiday brunch consists of 2 parts. Part 1 is sharing the meal, have a raffle and share stories, Part 2 is the Section’s small car show by the planes, and to share stories of the automobiles. The members share the latest they have done to their car(s), and what their next step will be. Even though the weather was a little on the overcast side, it was still good.

It worked out that while we were inside eating, it rained. Unfortunately, Victor Rodriguez, who arrives earlier than the others to set up the Section’s flags got some of that rain. Bill Harter, and Henry Ovares came to his rescue, and guided some of the members where to park for Part II on the holiday brunch.

This venue provides everyone with an opportunity to display the beautiful Mercedes-Benz automobiles by the planes which are from World War I and World War II. If you like history, check out some interesting information for the 94th Squadron at https://www.94thvannuys.com/history. From the time when the Section commenced doing our holiday brunch in December 2013, at the 94th Squadron, new history was made with these planes, and the Mercedes-Benzes.

Attending a buffet at the 94th Squadron, with an unlimited variety of food, desserts, soft drinks, coffee, and Mimosas, one tends to eat more than intended. Everyone was content, the camaraderie amongst the members was undeniable, and everyone was anxious for the raffle to begin. The gifts for the raffles were provided to the Section by Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables. Unfortunately, Robert Corzo, who had played Santa in the previous years, by giving out the gifts to the raffle winners, was unable to attend. The Section would like to thank Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables once again for their generosity. Michael Chrusch, the President of the Section thanked everyone for coming, and reminded all about the 7th Annual Concours de’Elegance was taking place on Sunday, January 13, 2019, was being sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables, and it will be held at the classic Biltmore Hotel, in Coral Gables.

Once Part I of the holiday brunch came to an end, the annual group picture by the Christmas tree was taken. Afterward, everybody walked to their cars for Part 2. Strolling from car to car more conversations were initiated, and each member shared their techniques of things they use, and they did with their cars. Beginning with the cleaning, and continuing to other processes or performance for the beautiful Mercedes-Benzes. The event ended by taking group pictures of everyone by the cars, and planes.

It was overall a relaxed, wonderful, and productive event. Hoping to see you at the next South Florida Section’s holiday brunch in December 2019.
